Good Afternoon,
Just over six years ago, in January of 2019 I held the hope of providing a mechanism for the Ortiz and Blain families to honor the memory of their beautiful, loving son and grandson, David, and provide a mechanism for for the family to heal themselves through helping others.
It seems the resolution to his case is nearing, the suspect has been captured, a trial may be imminent, and hopefully earthly justice will be served. I believe that now is the time that I turn over the reins.
I am pleased to place the foundation into the capable hands of David’s talented and beautiful sister, Jessica E. Ortiz. Jessica always looked out for her baby brother and remains his fiercest champion. I have no doubt that she will build upon what has been started with an energy and passion that cannot be matched. It is my most sincere prayer that the organization thrives under her leadership and someday spreads across this country. We will never be able to stop arsonists, but this organization intends to ensure that high school graduates are educated, prepared and be able to survive if they find themselves in danger from a fire.
With love,
Karen L. Taylor
